Nee, dat is niet nodig. De oven is in de fabriek al voorzien van een zogenaamde ‘seasoned finish’ (een voorbehandelde laag). Je kunt hem na een korte spoeling met warm water direct in de kolen of op de barbecue zetten. Wel is het aan te raden om de oven na een paar keer gebruik opnieuw te seasonen, zodat de beschermlaag goed behouden blijft en het gietijzer in optimale conditie blijft.
De oven heeft een inhoud van 1,8 liter. Dit biedt gemiddeld ruimte aan ongeveer 3 grote aardappelen of meerdere kleinere aardappelen en groenten tegelijk.
De oven heeft een kantelbare beugelsluiting. Zodra je de oven optilt (bijvoorbeeld met een deksellifter), haakt de beugel in het deksel. Hierdoor blijft de oven stevig gesloten tijdens het verplaatsen en kan er geen as of eten uitvallen.
